Before I was faced with my diagnosis of A Schwannoma Brain Tumor, I was a very active woman working as a dispatcher for a Transportation Co Never expecting that for the next 2 years after my surgery that I would not be the same person. I have come to realize that the person I was, which I will never be again, the new me is a good me.
I am a surviver. There are many stages to my recovery, and I have not yet completed all the steps.
I have permanent nerve damage caused by the Schwannoma Tumor, Vocal Cords were Paralized, but Reconstruction Surgery has given me partial use of my vocals again. All of the Tumor could not be removed, so Gamma Knife Radiation has stopped the growth for 2 years. MRI have to be done every 6 months, but I am happy to do them, I am still Alive. My point Is: Always be greatful that you have survived your surgeries. You may not be the person you were when you went into the operating room, but when you came out you are a new person. Be the best you can be. You are in control of part of your recovery and work to be the new person you are. Life is wonderful, and always be greatful that you are here to make the best out of a new beginning. My best wishes and prayers to all.
